2025: Summer Band Lessons:

If you are going to be joining band next year as a 5th grader you should check the Community Education section of the school’s website. We will be posting information regarding band lessons, led by Mrs. Belford, that will help enhance your band experience. These lessons are not required for 5th grade band, but do allow the students to get a head-start in the proper care and use of their instrument. Summer Band Lessons will run for five days, Monday, August 18th through Friday August 22nd in the Jr. High Band Room (S150). Lessons usually run from 8:00am-3:00pm during that week. Students who participate will be split up into daily 30 minute lesson segments throughout that week by instrument type as well as by last name if sections are very large. A copy of the schedule will be attached to this posting and will also be sent out to families by the end of school year, and throughout the summer. The cost for the week of lessons is $30 payable to Community Ed on the first day of lessons. The Milaca Beginning Band Program will be getting off the ground with late summer band lessons. This is a reminder for those parents whose children are newly signed up for band.       
The schedule for the lessons goes as follows:

8:00 - 8:30 A.M. Flutes (Last name A-J)
8:30 - 9:00 A.M. Flutes (Last name K-Z)
9:00 - 9:30 A.M. Clarinets (Last name A-J)
9:30 - 10:00 A.M. Clarinets (Last name K-Z)
10:00 - 10:30 A.M. Saxophones
10:30 - 11:00 A.M. Trumpets (Last name A-J)
11:00 - 11:30 A.M. Trumpets (Last name K-Z)
11:30 - 12:00 P.M. Trombones (Last name A-J)
12:00 - 12:30 P.M. Trombones (Last name K-Z)
12:30 - 1:00 P.M. French Horns
1:00 - 1:30 P.M. Baritones
1:30 - 2:00 P.M. Tuba
2:00 - 2:30 P.M. Percussion

We start on MONDAY, AUGUST 18th, 2025. Lessons will run for five days, Monday through Friday. Lessons will be held in the Jr. High band room (S150). I have a door to the back parking lot - door 17 (by the football field), please enter there. Those students that have rental agreements with Eckroth Music and the school will receive their instruments on the first day of lessons. Those that have their own instruments should bring them on the first day. 

The cost for the week of lessons is $30.00, and should be paid at the time of registration online at: https://milaca.cr3.rschooltoday.com/public/home/

If you have your own instrument or are using a school owned instrument, you still need to get a lesson book. We are using ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS 2000. (It is a gold/black book. Cost is $10.00 available at Eckroth or I have them at school.) 

I have some supplies here at school. Rentals from Eckroth should have everything. Rentals from the school need to buy their own mouthpiece, book, reeds, valve oil, etc... Here are my prices at school:       Valve oil - $2.00        Cork Grease - $1.00         Fr. Hn. mouthpiece - $12.00      
                  Baritone mouthpiece -$20.00            Tuba mouthpiece - $40.00
                  Clarinet & Saxophone Reeds Bill - $25.00 for reeds for the whole school year
